Already in 1st grade, children are introduced to their first spelling patterns in Russian language lessons. A spelling chart is a place where you can make a mistake by writing the wrong letter.

1st grade spellings:

Types of vocabulary words

The correct spelling of vocabulary words should be memorized. Most dictionary words are nouns, but among the dictionary words there are also adjectives, verbs and a small number of words of other parts of speech.

Most dictionary words are words with an unstressed vowel at the root of the word that is not stressed.

Dictionary words also include words that contain an unverifiable paired consonant for deafness or voicedness.

At school, during Russian language lessons, vocabulary words are studied every year. Each class has its own list. In grades 1-2, children learn the simplest vocabulary words. Further, the complexity and number of memorized words increases.

You can memorize vocabulary words using various methods. There is no universal technique here. Whoever likes it. But it is not advisable to memorize orally. Written work must be required.

If a child has difficulty memorizing vocabulary words, then it is necessary to use a variety of methods that will include different types of memory and attention.

For example, you can use the association method.

A difficult spelling of a dictionary word is associated with a vivid associative image, which is remembered when writing this word, helping to write the spelling correctly. A well-chosen association word becomes a test word for a difficult and previously untested vocabulary word.
