Lesson for children on the topic “fruits”
We sort through the cards and say the name of the fruit out loud. Then we move on to gaming activities: we suggest arranging the cards according to the color of the image, according to the shape of the fruit, according to taste. This fun and easy activity helps kids learn the basic characteristics of each fruit. You can also sort out the pictures according to whether the depicted fruit is found in our area, or only in warm, southern countries. Along the way, we introduce the concept of “exotic” - unusual for any area. Children will also be interested in learning some facts about the most popular fruits, for example:
- Lemon contains much more sugar than strawberries. There is simply a lot more acid in it, which explains the sour taste.
- Watermelon and banana are classified as berries because they have a lot of seeds and soft pulp. Moreover, more than ninety percent of watermelon consists of water.
- Pears contain substances that can make teeth much stronger.
- If a worm has settled inside an apple, it means that it was the most delicious and ripest on the branch: worms choose their food with special care.
- The peach tree is a relative of the rose.
- In many countries, bananas are fried and salted.
- Pineapple does not grow on a tree, but directly on the ground. Therefore, it is more correct to consider it a vegetable. But since it is sweet and very juicy, it is traditionally classified as a fruit.
- Oranges usually float well. But very sweet fruits sink to the bottom - this is how you can test the taste of these citrus fruits.
